Allux 2
ALLUX II is a microprocessor-controlled, polycentric hydraulic knee
The polycentric (4-axis) design of the ALLUX 2 knee delivers intrinsic geometrical stability in extension and lets the leg swing through more easily.
Due to its inherent structural stability, the knee is ideal for moderately active to highly active users. It is suitable for transfemoral or knee disarticulation amputees.
At all angles of flexion of the knee, the ALLUX 2’s active braking function controls every stage of the stance phase to enable the user to walk down slopes and stairs.
The new version of the ALLUX offers:
Improved usability
A certified prosthetist can quickly and easily program and adjust the ALLUX 2 using a smartphone.
Again via a smartphone, the user can easily switch to a different mode and check the battery level.
Enhanced reliability
The introduction of new needle bearings makes the operation of the ALLUX 2 smoother and improves its resistance to water.
Greater flexibility
With a new maximum flexion angle of 180 degrees (up from 155°), ALLUX 2 offers a wider range of motion than any other microprocessor-controlled knee on the market today.
Improved swing phase
The microprocessor-controlled hydraulic cylinder ensures that the swing phase completes smoothly at all walking speeds. The polycentric geometric and new needle bearings introduced for the ALLUX 2 combine to allow the user to walk even more naturally and smoothly.
Easier swing through (plenty of toe clearance)
The microprocessor-controlled hydraulic cylinder ensures that the swing phase completes smoothly at all walking speeds. The polycentric geometric and new needle bearings introduced for the ALLUX 2 combine to allow the user to walk even more naturally and smoothly.
Enhanced safety
ALLUX 2 constantly monitors the position and movement of the knee and responds to abnormal situations. For example: if the prosthesis touches an obstacle during the swing phase, the knee will detect this potential hazard and immediately increase the hydraulic resistance to stop the knee buckling.
Preflexion of the knee
The ability to adjust the knee’s resistance to flexion makes it safer for the user to go down stairs and slopes. Users appreciate the comfort provided by the polycentric geometry.
Long battery life
The battery life of the ALLUX 2 is approximately 4 days (5,000 steps). Fully charging an empty battery only takes 3 hours and a back-up battery is provided.
Unobtrusive appearance when seated
When the user sits down, the 4-axis linkage folds under itself to mimic a more natural sitting position, especially for amputees with long residual limbs or who have had a knee disarticulation.
The largest angle of flexion of any microprocessor-controlled knee
ALLUX 2 has a knee flexion angle of 180° (up from 155° for the ALLUX), which is more than any other microprocessor-controlled knee currently on the market. This increased range of motion makes life easier when biking, kneeling, changing shoes, etc.
Safety lock function
When the knee is flexed, loaded, and stationary for a preset period of time (1 to 3 seconds), flexion is automatically locked until the knee is extended. The safety lock function on the ALLUX 2 has been further improved by including a knee vibration feature that lets the user know the safety lock has activated
5 different pre-programmed modes, selected via a smartphone
Using a wireless connection to a smartphone, the user can easily select between five
different pre-programmed modes to customize their knee to their current activity or environment. Free swing mode, various locking positions or additional walking modes can all be selected by the user via the ALLUX 2 app.
Phone communication
The programming and adjustment of the knee have been made easier and more reliable thanks to the use of wireless connection to iOS or Android smartphones.
